NMHSwap - Who Are We?

We are a social enterprise focused on creating a circular fashion system, promoting slow fashion, and fostering connections within the NMH community! Ready to get started?

Purpose

NMHSwap is part of the year two independent study of the Rhodes Social Entrepreneurship Course at NMH. During the second year of this course, we work to identify a social need on campus that is yet to be addressed and create an entrepreneurial solution to the need. We identified a significant amount of clothing waste on campus, and from there, NMH Swap was formed. Since then, we've worked with the community to gain insight on how we can best address this need sustainably and economically.

The purpose of NMHSwap is to foster connections between members of the NMH community by providing them with an online trading platform where students can swap articles of clothing and an educational blog where members of the community can learn about sustainable fashion choices.

How does NMHSwap work?

• You subscribe! (subscription price is $3 and goes directly to the Rhodes Social Entrepreneurship fund)

• You start to swap! Post articles of clothing on our platform that you no longer want, and explore pieces of clothing that other members of the community have posted.

• Connect! Once you have pieces of clothing you're willing to swap, plan a time to swap in person with whoever you're trading with.

  
  

Activities

NMHSwap cares about what the community has to say. To hear back from our community, we hosted a focus group this past month and had a turnout of over 14 people! This focus group was extremely successful and helped us get some insight into what prospective customers are searching for. Hearing feedback from members of our community help us to:

1. Research marketing strategies

2. Design an accessible online platform

3. Gauge interest within the community

4. Build a platform that our customers are excited about!

Upcoming Events

We are so excited to bring NMHSwap to you! Campus is a place where we have observed a copious amount of clothing going to waste, and we're excited to partner with other on-campus groups to best address this problem! Upcoming events we hope to host include:

• An information booth at NMHThrift

• An in-person trading event where you can learn how to barter/trade

• Information sessions on fashion waste on campus

Project Expectations

Personal expectations we have for ourselves in the process of making NMHSwap come to life include at least 15 swaps around campus. This is where you come in!

NMHSwap strives to be for the people of NMH. We will listen to all input and feedback we receive given to us by the people interested and excited about our enterprise. If you have an idea that you think would benefit NMHSwap, please don't hesitate to reach out!
